CONSERVATIVE OUTSIDER LISA MCCLAIN FOR CONGRESS
MACOMB COUNTY, MI – Congresswoman-elect Lisa McClain (MI-10) says “Enough is Enough” in response to the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services announcement yesterday, delivered by Governor Whitmer, imposing continued restrictions on Michigan’s citizens and visitors leading well into December.
“This started out in March as two weeks to flatten the curve, and now we are in December looking at restrictions carrying on through the rest of the year and, let’s face it, likely into next year” stated McClain. “This is crippling small businesses in Michigan’s 10th District and throughout the state. Small businesses are closing for good, laying off staff and causing financial hardship on hardworking men and women.”
McClain noted that quarantines are for the sick and not the healthy. While we must be mindful of the coronavirus and respect it, we cannot live in fear of it and be paralyzed by the potential of catching it. Many restaurants and bars count on holiday parties and events to build profits to operate year-round, and only offering take out doesn’t cut it. There is a better way forward.
“Governor Whitmer has refused to work with the Legislature on common sense solutions where business owners and the people of Michigan can stay open in a responsible manner, as many other states are. Her and her department’s lack of collaboration, and even meaningful discussions, circumvent the structure of Government and how it is meant to function,” stated McClain.
McClain believes that the Governor’s unilateral actions are not in line with federal and state Constitutions and fly in the face of the recent Michigan Supreme Court’s decision, clarifying that she must work with the Legislature.
Lisa is a conservative outsider with a business background. She has never held public office before and looks forward to serving the citizens of the 10th Congressional District as she steps into the public service arena.
Congresswoman - Elect Lisa McClain was interviewed on Press Pool with Julie Mason on Wednesday, Nov 11, 2020. Discussing the wave of GOP women elected to Congress, McClain stated. I am a Republican running for the U.S. Congress to represent the Tenth District of Michigan. Following are some observations and personal background information to help you get to know me a little better and evaluate my qualifications. Should you choose to vote for me, know that I will represent MI-10 faithfully and with the utmost integrity.
Did you know that if Michigan was a country, it would rank 22nd in the world in 2019 Gross Domestic Product (GDP)? About half of our GDP is generated in Southeast Michigan, with tourism, agriculture and manufacturing leading the way. Most impressive is the unmatched talent of our workforce, proudly carrying on a tradition of innovation, quality products, and a tireless work ethic first made famous by “The Arsenal of Democracy” during WWII.
As a lifelong Michigander, know that I share your values, optimism and commitment to building a bright future for all.
The following six guideposts will serve as my compass to direct my daily activity.
I had a good conversation with Paul Miller at WPHM Radio , in Port Huron, about the upcoming election. It was great to talk about why I chose to run for Congress. Instead of tearing apart the country and the Constitution, we need to start focusing on what is positive in this country, build on that and work together towards solutions that benefit the American people.
Lisa sat down with MGRT LIMElight Host, Jessie to talk about why she decided to run for Congress, how we restore the quality of life to Michigan citizens, and how her business experience will help her navigate Congress.
I am pleased to announce that I signed the Death Tax (Estate Tax) Repeal Pledge. Let’s be honest, for years the government has come up with ways to tax every part of our lives and, in fact, our death. I believe that the Death tax is egregiously unjust. It is often paid by forcing grieving families to have to sell assets like farms and small businesses, destroying generations of hard work and aspirations of the American dream. As a fiscal conservative, I will fight to repeal this tax, and countless others, that unfairly take more money out of your pocket to grow government and stifle private sector growth.
I believe in the rule of law and what is happening in some cities in our country is NOT protesting. It is rioting. I fully support the thin blue line. As we are seeing in some cities, without law enforcement, we are a country ruled by mobs. I have signed the Heritage Action for America and The Heritage Foundation Police Pledge to show my support. I stand with firmly with police officers across the country and reject the radical left’s efforts to defund and dismantle our system of law enforcement.
